A: Corium has a specific range with no direct equivalent in traditional brick. Colours, glazes and textures are applied and fixed into the surface of the tiles during firing. The Corium brochure shows a range of finishes, but other colours and finishes can be developed.

A: Austenitic stainless steel fasteners (304 grade) with integral sealing washer (EPDM or similar) should be specified to suit the support material to which Corium is being fixed. The system is fixed to vertical supports at maximum 600mm centres.

A: CORIUM brick cladding is made of thin brick tiles (approximately 32mm thick) that have been specifically manufactured to mechanically fix onto the unique design of our steel backing sections. A: A mainly commercial system comprises interlocking steel sections (rails) specially profiled to allow fired clay brick tiles to be clipped in, providing a mechanical fix. The vertical and horizontal joints between the tiles are then pointed to provide a brickwork finish. It is mounted onto top hats, a minimum of 25mm away from the sub frame at maximum of 600mm centres. Please note, due to its import from Europe, these are only available in European coursing heights of 65mm.

A: Historic KL Mortar by Parex was developed specifically for use with Corium and its use is recommended. The pointing and mortar mixing must only be carried out by approved Corium installers.

A: The standard tile has visible face dimensions of 215 x 65mm to match standard UK brick size. Alternative tile heights of 50mm, 57.7mm, 140mm and 215mm are available. Tile length can vary (depending on tile height) up to 327mm. The maximum possible tile size is 215mm (H) x 327mm (L). All tiles have a thickness of 32mm.

Brick, in general, does not burn, and few other materials will provide the same, high level of protection against fire that brick cladding and traditional bricks do. As well as being fire-resistant, brick cladding is also resistant to snow, rain, UV damage, and heavy winds.

A: While this largely depends on the architectural aesthetic and location of your commercial space, brick cladding is known for offering a number of desirable benefits over cladding alone. A: If desired, brick cladding can be painted. However, when the brick cladding is made from genuine brick, you’ll need to ensure the surface is correctly prepared before painting. Real brick is a porous material, and because of this, coating bricks with paint can prevent the brick from correctly absorbing and expelling moisture by trapping the moisture inside. When this happens, paint is likely to peel and chip away. To minimise the risk of this happening, the surface will need to be thoroughly cleaned and correctly primed with a primer designed for masonry.
